第五代戰機將是一種能夠躲避雷達探測的“隱形戰鬥機”，其雷達散射截面僅有0.5平米，只有現役蘇-30MKI的40分之一（後者的雷達散射截面約20平米）。

T-50最大起飛重量34噸，在以27噸重量起飛時，最高速度能達到每小時1900千米。
